One More Week!

Listen up duders!

There's one week left for our photo contest!

This is your opportunity to show some skills! All you need is to take a creative picture of something involving skateboarding. Most creative photo wins.

Now I know what you're thinking: "But Sean, why would I want to do such a thing?". Good question.

If you win our photo contest you get some Dzz Nutz hardware, some Monark stickers, and a brand new Monark skateboard deck. Even if your photo isn't chosen, there is some potential for some Red Bull to come your way. So its totally worth your time to get out there and shoot some photos.

When you shoot these photos, send them on over to whoisfreddy@gmail.com

Take 'er easy,
- Sean

Keep the photos coming!

Summer is finally here!

I hope everyone is out skating a lot and getting beater tans since the weather has been so nice lately.

I'm going to have a nice little update from Sackville for you guys within the next week or two, and on top of that, I'm currently going into my second year of filming for my and Jeff Pineau's video called Back To Square One, so I'm finding it kind of hard balancing blog posts and holding on to footy. But expect that video this winter!

For now, I'll leave you with two things.
A nice clip of James Leger doing a super duper Airwalk at MSP and a shout out to my friend Matt Graham who was on CBC yesterday:

Back in the Sack

I came back to the homestead here in Sackville, NB for the week. I came home all stoked to skate only to arrive at the skatepark where there was only the smallest manual pad you have ever seen. None of the stuff has been put into the park which leaves me with nothing to skate for the week.

So if anyone from Sackville's city council ends up reading this by mere chance please do the town a favor and put that stuff back in the paved area in which the skateboarding obstacles belong. I went with two other guys to the storage place where they just keep the skatepark things outside all winter to see if I could cart any of the stuff over in my car but everything was too heavy and too big to fit.

Lucky for you guys there were some sweet bikers there that provided you with todays update.

Ryan Lebel, Ollie. This is pretty impressive considering those legs are 8.5 hours into the trip.

Deck Run

Myself and Lebel went down to the Chapman Skateboards factory yesterday with Joel to pick up the latest batch of Monark decks. Despite the 10 hours of driving and several charlie horses for voicing my opinion about a certain kind of candy it was a pretty fun day. Here's some randoms from the trip.

Saint John

A couple of us went down to saint john this past weekend. Didn't manage to get a whole lot that wasn't glitchy, but anyways it will only be single clip updates from me for a while and it won't really be recent stuff either.

Here is a clip of Kurtis doing a quick nose manny at the SJ Market Square

HOVA

Finals are done for me now as I finished my last exam Tuesday night. Now its time to relax a bit, visit the parents, chill at home for a bit and hit up BBQ season. I'm not gonna lie, I kind of copped out of this weeks update. If you're from Fredericton or now, Moncton, then you may know this guy:

Mike Rosengren cutie pie extraordinaire from Sean Garrity on Vimeo.

And once it gets nicer outside I'll definitely be getting more footage!

If you want to offer me a job then that would be cool too. I'm currently looking for employment so hit me up!

WTB: Canon battery charger

So as of 10:49 AM this morning I am on summer holiday, this should mean more photos from my side of things. For now you are stuck with old throwaway stuff until I find my CHARGER for my camera batteries.... so if you see one lying around holler.

A minute at MSP

I guess I'm filling in for Chris Ralph since he sent his camera in to get fixed and he doesn't have any footy saved since he hasn't had his vx1000 for too long.

As you guys know, I went to Moncton during Easter weekend and skated there. I had a bunch of random footage I'll never use anywhere else so I thought I would jumble it all together for a nice one minute montage for you to watch. So enjoy this one minute at Moncton Skate Park.

Kimble

So if you have not noticed Kimble skatepark is dry and lately seems to be the go to spot for Fredericton skateboarders. Also my camera is donezo for a while so there won't be much from me here for almost a month. Here is a clip of Bearing Kid, Josh Palmer and Kurtis Shea at Fredericton's finest spot.

WhoIsFreddy? Contest #1

Ok folks, we've got news. Monark Skateboards has been kind enough to donate a brand new Monark deck as well as an (almost) lifetime supply of DZZ Nuts hardware. In addition to that, some miracle juice known as Red Bull will be added to the prize pack. We've decided that we are going to set up a little photo contest for the goodies.

Now that the snow is all but gone, the days are getting longer and the concrete is dry, we'd like to see some sort of skateboarding somewhere in the image, but other than that there are no requirements. You can shoot it with your Mom's camera, sister's webcam, your cellphone, whatever you can get your hands on. We are going to give you a couple weeks to do this, starting today, with the deadline being Monday, May the 4th.

In the event that more than one of you enters, we will pick a winner on the following guidelines;
-skateboarding skill
-creativity (creativity in the spot, in the way you are skating it)

Once you have completed this mission, you can send a digital copy to whoisfreddy@gmail.com and/or give a physical copy to any of the four of us.

thats all I can think of for now, so get out shooting! I'm sure i've missed a bunch of important things, so forward any questions to whoisfreddy@gmail.com and i'll do my best to get at you!

Cheers,
-Tom and co.

Ghetto

Heres proof that spots can be made out of anything. All we had here was an old screen, some scrap wood and a big pile of mulch. Its very sketchy, but skateable..so get out there and make a spot!

Jeff Delong

Jeff Delong sent me this yesterday. For those that don't know, Jeff has been shooting as long as I've been skateboarding and routinely gets his work published, check out the latest Concrete Powder and enjoy a two page spread he captured. He's responsible for most of the national magazine coverage Fredericton receives.

Anyhow, this is Kurtis Shea, with the photo version of this http://whoisfreddy.blogspot.com/2009/04/thursday-theatre

FINALLY got out and shot some street the other day. Ryan Lebel is probably the best spot finder I know, we found this new one a little while ago, pretty rad to shoot a new spot.

footy

I know there has been footy of the post office set a bunch already but I'd rather post this instead of random clip thats not so good. Meehan gets me hyped. The dudes got skill and knows how to throw it down. He was nice enough to lay down a couple tricks for me the other day, so here's one of them.

Josh Clark

here's a couple from last summer. I'm pretty sure Josh is almost done his winter hibernation in Barca, hopefully he swings through Fredericton at least for a little while to make our lazy asses some new spots!
My last paper is in tommorow, and then exams will shut down practically other aspect of my life for two weeks, but then its officially summer for me! that means far more photography is around the corner

Rainy Saint John

Josh Palmer drove a couple of us to Saint John on Thursday to skate the park there. Unfortunately, it was misty and the whole park was wet except for the mini ramp and the other side of the bridge, which is weird because you would think that under the bridge would be the dry part. It was totally the opposite though.

Either way, we did what we could with the area we had and filmed a little bit so I put it together in this little montage.

The weather isn't looking too good for the weekend either so keep an eye open for news regarding the comp.

ollddiess

So I'm probably slacking the most out of the four of us. There's only two more weeks until school is done and then things will pick up! Until then I'll try to post some stuff you may not have seen. This is Stef Curtis, summer 2007 I'm pretty sure.

Also, word on street is that there is a contest this Saturday at the new skatepark in Saint John. As far as I know the City is putting it on It's teams of 4 skaters with cash prizes for best team and MVP skater. No word on times/entry fee or even if the rain is gonna cancel it though.

Cheers!

No Fools

I know it might be kind of lame to make an update on yourself but its gonna happen. We went filming/shooting at the the Marysville ledges the other day and we got some content there but I'm just gonna put it in a montage I'm working on. For the mean time I'm gonna drop this throwaway footy of myself to play us out.
